Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics® Original Formula by Essential Formulas is a unique blend of:
- Probiotics – friendly bacteria that help you digest food and support immune response
- Prebiotic Culture Medium – fermented vegetables and mushrooms that nourish the probiotics
- Organic Acids and More – pH balancing organic acids along with naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino acids to support whole health
Dr. Ohhira's three-year fermentation process at seasonal temperatures encourages survival of the strongest bacteria and makes the blend stable without refrigeration.
To stay healthy, the ratio of good to bad bacteria needs to be at least 85 to 15 ratio. Today, due to stress, diet, and lifestyle factors, that ratio may be difficult to maintain without probiotic support.

Original Formula verses Professional Formula: Identical ingredients but Professional is fermented an additional two years from 3 years to 5 years. Tweaked during the fifth year of processing to provide organic acids that are more robust than those contained in the Original Formula. In addition, the potency of the micronutrient by-products is maximized to expedite the adhesion of the good bacteria in the colon. The CFU of the lactic acid bacteria may be less than in the Original Formula due to the natural variation of ingredients and the more complex manufacturing process.
The Original Formula is most often used to maintain overall good health. The Professional Formula is recommended for those individuals with a specific health condition.
Each capsule is individually blister-packaged to ensure optimum freshness and product integrity.
