GABA (gamma aminobutyric acid) is a non-essential amino acid found mainly in the human brain and eyes. It is considered an inhibitory neurotransmitter, which means it regulates brain and nerve cell activity by inhibiting the number of neurons firing in the brain. GABA is referred to as the "brain's natural calming agent". By inhibiting over-stimulation of the brain, GABA may help promote relaxation and ease nervous tension.* NOW provides only the naturally occurring form as found in food and in the body.
Suggested Usage
Take 1 capsule 1 to 2 times daily as needed, preferably with juice or water on an empty stomach.

My son uses this for it's calming properties. It is a vital component in his autism recovery. We trust the NOW brand and would recommend this product. The only issue I have with this product is the size of the pill. My son, fortunately, is able to swallow these, but other children may not.

Helps me get back to sleep

I find that Gaba is very helpful in getting back to sleep if I wake up in the middle of the night. It helps me get back to sleep but never makes me feel groggy in the morning. The NOW brand is a particularly good value.
